Incorrect breathing may be underlying these conditions
Breathing incorrectly may irritate and inflame tissues of your nose, throat and lungs, trigger mucus accumulation, coughing, and wheezing during the day, and may contribute to vibration and turbulence in the throat during sleep.
Over time you may change from being a silent, restful sleeper to being a chronic snorer. If your breathing gets more disordered, your sleep (and your bed partner's) may then be interrupted by very heavy snoring, erratic breathing, and episodes of breath holding and gasping (indicators of sleep apnea / apnoea).
Correct breathing is quiet and through the nose, day and night; it is smooth, soft, slow, regular and satisfying. It is predominantly diaphragmatic.
Incorrect breathing may be noisy, through the mouth, erratic, irregular, heavy, fast, with the upper chest and uncomfortable. Frequent yawning and sighing may occur and there may be gasping during speech
